Time to dine in Divinity with Oxford Fine Dining

Thank you for opening our second post! We hope you’re either here to gain some inspiration about your catering options, or you’re just interested to learn about how wedding catering works at the Bodleian.

Dining options

During your tasting session with Oxford Fine Dining, you will have the perfect opportunity to decide what menu would suit your wedding theme. Maybe you were hoping for a classic banquet style dining experience with college style seating? * Perhaps this would include a selection of classic courses? Alternatively, maybe you’d like to switch it up and go for the seasonal menu, to match your fresh, spring theme? Other options can include standing ‘Buffet style’ dining experiences where your guests remain standing throughout the duration of the wedding breakfast. However, before the food is served, remember that drinks come first. Perhaps you could picture you and your guests in the decadent Old Schools Quadrangle: a warm and romantic space where you will embark on your cocktail hour, and freshly made canapes will flow.

* Question!

What is college style seating?
College seating is long, banquet style seating. Usually two or three long tables will fill the length of the Divinity School. This is all dependent on your guest numbers. The alternative would be cabaret style seating. (Round tables)

OFD’s 10 stages of wedding planning:

Oxford Fine Dining believe that, ‘every single wedding is a new story,’ and with every story comes a careful amount of planning. To guarantee a seamless catering service, a wedding planner will be available to guide your vision of your wedding. Their main role is to advise, plan and support you at every stage of your wedding planning process.

1) Oxford Fine Dining will arrange the first planning meeting. This will take place at their office in Weston-on-the-Green or at the Bodleian Library

2) You will be invited to the Weston-on-the-Green tasting suite for a 3 course tasting session

3) You will be provided with a budget update

4) Designing your wedding: introducing table styling inspiration boards

5) Oxford Fine Dining will have regular discussions with your other suppliers

6) Your bespoke wedding schedule will have been created

7) Oxford Fine Dining will finalise a catering ‘to-do’ list 6 weeks before the big day

8) They will provide you with on-the-day catering management and venue set-up

9) They will talk to your Master of Ceremonies on the day

10) Oxford Fine Dining will fully clear down of the venue before close

How does Oxford Fine Dining work with the Bodleian?

Oxford Fine Dining’s dedicated wedding planner will work closely with the Bodleian’s Wedding Coordinator. Occasionally, the planner may suggest arranging a site visit, so all the venue-related queries can be ironed out before they begin to discuss nitty gritty details about table-scapes, the bar, the cake table, etc. Oxford Fine Dining are in regular contact with the Bodleian to share and discuss the couple’s progress. Together, the two teams run a stream-lined service. All timings and set-up details are finalised ready for the big day to commence!

Until next time!
