Feeling Fabulous with Fabulous Flowers
Welcome back to the Bodleian Blog! Last week we introduced you to our sole catering suppliers and today we’re going big, blossomy and beautiful. Let us warmly introduce you to one of our recommended florists: Fabulous Flowers!
A bit about the team…
Fabulous Flowers is a team of artistic, flower-obsessed, individuals with a large expertise and experience in events and parties. Over the last sixteen years, they have created florals for events all over the UK. Led by creative director Matthew Taylor, Fabulous Flowers’ Weddings and Events team include highly qualified florists with a real passion for what they do. It is extremely important to Matthew that he oversees the planning process, as well as being present on the day to help create and install the flowers.
Fabulous Flowers guarantee high flower quality by using only the finest grade of English-grown flowers available. Their style is large and ‘flowerful’ and their bespoke design process and personal service allows them to continually create showstopping flowers.
If venues request that all items and furniture should be removed at the end of a wedding reception, Fabulous Flowers carefully remove all flowers that have not been taken away at the end of the evening. In a bid to recycle and reduce waste, while also engaging with the local community, Fabulous Flowers work closely with the Oxford Hospital voluntary services department. They make sure that any discarded wedding flowers are used to brighten places in local hospital reception areas.

Memorable Weddings at the Bodleian
One wedding that Fabulous Flowers worked on was with wedding planner, Isobel Weddings. They created tall, elegant, flowerful domes of green and white summer flowers, with smaller vases of white hydrangeas at a table level. The beauty of this wedding was how it all came together with the china, linen, hired furniture and the lighting.
Another standout example was a wedding with luxury rose balls placed on each table. Every tall glass vase had 150 roses combined with oak and birch foliage. These trees had special connections to each family member and helped to link them together. Fabulous Flowers really love using subtle symbolism in wedding flowers. This could be something as simple as a favourite flower to acknowledge the absence of a lost family member, or a specific type of flower that perfectly characterises the couple.

Selecting your fabulous flowers:
- A personal approach: Fabulous Flowers will start by getting to know their clients. They will talk about the ‘dream style’ and will then aim to exceed these dreams by creating flowers that will never be forgotten. *
- The design process: a huge team effort takes place and together they help to create a proposal that they will then present to their clients
- Post-wedding plans: For weddings at the Bodleian, the team find ways to develop table designs with plants and growing trees that can be planted after the wedding
Personal client relationships are very important for the Fabulous Flowers team. Many wedding guests will find it hard to forget just how beautiful the floral arrangements were and may in fact choose to book Fabulous Flowers for their own weddings, christenings, or other celebrations! So if you’ve been wowed, why not spread the word?
Bye for now!
Hopefully a lot of you are now buzzing with excitement to start (or continue) flower planning for your wedding? Maybe it’s time to put together that Pinterest board you were thinking about doing, or perhaps you want to touch base with Matthew and his fabulous team? The choice is endless!
Don’t forget, if you have found this blog post helpful, please do give it a ‘like’ to show your appreciation.
