Marry in the Music with Manor House Music
Welcome back to the Bodleian Wedding Blog! Today we would like to talk to you about music. How can music enhance your wedding? What type of music do you think would create intimacy and ambience if you were to hold your wedding at the Bodleian Library? One duo/quartet who have all the answers are Manor House Music. Read on to find out more about these fantastic musicians…
Welcome, Manor House Music
First formed in 2005, Manor House Music are a string quartet and duo who consistently perform high-quality classical pieces at weddings, events, concerts and other special occasions. Since 2005, they have attended and performed at over eight-hundred weddings! The group really love shaping wedding music for their couples. They view every single wedding as unique and carefully work with each couple to design a thoroughly unforgettable and personal playlist: one that is meaningful and represents the couple perfectly.
So, after eight-hundred weddings, why do Manor House Music keep coming back for more?
Well, perhaps one of the things the duo/quartet love the most about performing at weddings is the reaction of the guests. They have often received feedback from members of the wedding party who have been incredibly moved by their music, or equally, they have been known to surprise some of the guests with a cover song that no-one expected them to play!
Music for the moment:
Perhaps one of the most fascinating things about Manor House Music is their vast repertoire of music: When performing at the Bodleian, this has ranged from classical pieces by Handel, Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart to some very modern rock and pop numbers that have created a fantastic atmosphere in both Divinity School and Convocation House.
Manor House Music are all about creating music for different moments: whether that means strutting into the cocktail hour to the funky beat of Bruno Mars, or slowing things down with Ed Sheeran for a magical first dance – with over eight-hundred pieces of music to choose from, you’ve got plenty of options. Manor House Music have a very flexible approach and will always check-in with your musical preferences to create ambience and atmosphere at all the right moments. This approach also transpires to their performance on the day. If, for example, you wanted Manor House Music to perform at both your wedding ceremony and your drinks reception afterwards, they remain highly flexible and will move around the venue to fit with your vision. In the past, the quartet have been known to move from Convocation House to the Old Schools Quad. Again, on a warm summer’s day, the combination of the historic venue, the fabulous flow of drinks and eloquently performed stringed music is the perfect recipe to a highly memorable and intimate wedding day.
The best bits…
Manor House Music: “Some very modern rock and pop numbers have created a fantastic atmosphere. Highlights have included the Beach Boys ‘God Only Knows’, which one couple ended their ceremony with”
Megan, Wedding Coordinator at the Bodleian Library: “Last year I ran a very memorable wedding ceremony in September. It was a Friday in fact. During the signing of the marriage documents, Convocation House is always usually filled with a general chitter-chatter of excitable guests. But, on this occasion, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Manor House Music playing the Cure’s ‘Friday I’m in Love.’ It seemed perfectly fitting for the occasion and I don’t think there was a dry eye in sight!”
Manor House Music have released their own CD and they are regularly featured on Classic FM!
Favourite song?
Out of eight-hundred pieces of music to perform, surely it must be challenging to claim a favourite. Here’s what Manor House Music had to say:
“Hand on heart, it would be very difficult to come close to the magic of performing Mozart string quartets. We also enjoy the more modern numbers, including Madness ‘It Must Be Love’ and Guns ’n’ Roses ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’!!”
Until next time…
Perhaps, up until now, you may not have considered your dream wedding playlist, or maybe you have, but you didn’t realise just how many options you would have, particularly when it comes down to choosing your ceremony music, or selecting the music for your first dance. Manor House Music have got you covered with their fantastic repertoire.
Encore!
