A picture is worth a thousand words
For my next blog post, I’m going to be talking about the importance of photography. Many think it is really difficult to get the balance between getting good photographs and fully enjoying your day without worrying what you look like; I disagree! All the best photographs I’ve seen of couples are the natural shots of them laughing, looking into each others eyes, or shedding a tear with loved ones. Gone are the days of posing and pouting at the camera for a good shot; it’s all about the natural picture to capture the atmosphere and emotions from the day.
I am a huge fan of photography, and take a personal interest in my spare time, so writing about photographers is really exciting for me. At the Bodleian, we have recently started to work with a new range of photographers, and I’m thrilled to be able to share these with you! Here are a select few, with many more in the pipeline.
With passion and excitement oozing from every photograph taken, Susie & Harley are the proud founders of Barker Evans Photography. They have an incredible portfolio that has taken them all over the world sharing their love for photography with each and every one of their clients. They appreciate that not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera, and work to bring out the very best in every event, creating stunning photographs that have meaning and show emotion. One of their most important goals is to produce photographs that are cherished by all of the family, and are admired by family and friends for years to come.
Nicola & Glen are a couple who have travelled the world and share the same desire to capture love and happiness in every photograph. Their own love story (which is shared on their ‘About’ page) is something that seems to have really inspired their passion for working with wedding couples, and, in their own words, ‘documenting the most beautiful love stories where…soulmates are shining their brightest because of their love’. Such beautiful words from such a lovely couple, who we are absolutely delighted to be working with!
Alex Davies is a self proclaimed ‘country girl’ whose creativity floods from every inch of her work. After meeting with Alex, I was so pleased that she was on board to work with us at the Bodleian; she has that innovative flair, whilst also taking very classic shots of stunning backdrops and happy couples on their special day. I think that Alex sums up the title of this blog post best; ‘The camera is just the tool I use to capture what I see and feel on every wedding day – I really do shoot from the heart’. And is that not what every couple wants for their wedding day?
